Feeling a little nostalgic about this ride right now. Trust me, it’s not because of the flat, boring wasteland that stands between Phoenix and Tucson but it was a great accomplishment and the company was even greater. All you need for a fun adventure is a bike and a bag, get out there and see some things.
In Arizona we don’t say “I love you,” we say “Cholla saguaro barrel cactus prickly pear,” which means something like “I will fuck you the fuck up if you even try to touch me.” There’s no room for love in the desert, ese.

So I got to party on this beast of a machine for a few hours last night. I can’t even begin to explain the experience but it’s safe to say that Red Bull hooked us up last night. Thank you State Bicycle Co. for yesterday’s event and the following afterparty.
Podium sweep for #teamstate! Congrats to the 10 riders who earned their ticket to #ridenstyle ! Thanks @redbullphx for the support! #statebicycleco (at Underground Crit)
Had a fun time racing with the boys today and I’m always happy to come second to Craig.
Quite the way to spend a Sunday morning. I love my friends and fans of State Bicycle Co.
Got in a little night shred on SoMo tonight. Riding National for only the second time while trying to following a downhiller at night has definitely been one of my brighter ideas. (at National Trail at South Mountain)
What A Terribly Beautiful Day
I got off work last night at 4am and had to be back at it today at 12:30pm. While I’m working all I can admire is the beautiful weather but also have to endure everyone’s fucking instagram pictures of all the fun they’re having. Fuck ya’ll, if I don’t go on a hike or ride a mountain bike tomorrow I’m going to lose my shit.
This moment from our ptttp trip stands out the most to me. We were in the middle of getting lost and taking an hour-long detour. While back-tracking on a dirt road, Max dismounts his bike and walks over to the freshly cut cotton field. I asked “Max, what are doing over there?” to which he replied “Oh dude, I’ve never felt ‘real’ cotton balls before”. The whole thing always brings a smile to my face because all I remember thinking is “White people are crazy, you’d never see a black person make such a big deal over cotton”.
Cheman wrote a nice recap of this weekend’s Phoenix To Tucson To Phoenix ride over at the HeavyPedal, check it out!
I’d also like to mention that my knees are slowly but surely growing themselves back and my taint is now leather. Fun times, ya’ll.
